not sure what a client-server media player is, but after installing it I don't understand how I can even run it.Īctually I found a very easy way to right-click and Open With a folder with the media player. The downer is that there's less preloaded skins, and most importantly the volume bar doesn't work. QMMP is good to, and has the Double Size option which winamp aslo had (and Audacious lacks). In most music applications, you can open a new playlist, and add an entire folder, or select files and folders. +1 for Audacious which is lightweight and has 3 desktop layout options: WinAmp, GTK, or "QT". In one of the previous posts, I provided links to some Winamp skins that anyone can use. There are only a few WinAmp type applications that can use WinAmp skins, like Audacious, Qmmp, Xmms, etc. There are many excellent music applications available for Linux and many posts on this topic. hmm I have searched for this in Software Manager and in Desklets but couldn't find it. Just because you don't know about them doesn't mean they don't exist. Mint, and Linux in general, has PLENTY of easy ways to terminate a process. The system monitor works too, even if there is no window or anything else visible.

another way is to add the 'Force quit' applet to your panel, which does exactly the same thing but is easier for those of us who prefer clicking on things. They had a Linux version but after trying to get it to work with a modern Linux version I had to spend a few hours with my bartender and my shrink. XMMS used to be good, but they did away with the native GUI and made it a command-line player.īTW, Winamp is available.sort of. QMMP is about the closest thing I found to Winamp that has a GUI.

I figured out how to make the Open WIth - Clementine appear, but when I tried to do that on a folder with various MP3, the first song played and after that I kept seeing Clementine Stopped on and on on the top right corner of my screen. Main window is huge and totally cluttered. Can't right click on a folder and Play All.
